Roof shingle calculator
The Roof Shingle Calculator is a practical estimating tool designed to help homeowners and roofing professionals determine how many asphalt shingles are required for a roofing project. It can be embedded directly into a WordPress page using a custom HTML block, without the need for plugins, ensuring fast load times and consistent performance across all devices.
Shingle Calculation Method
The calculation method follows standard roofing industry practices. The user first enters the total roof area in square feet. A waste factor is then applied to account for cutting, overlaps, and complex roof layouts. The adjusted roof area is calculated by multiplying the total area by the selected waste percentage.
Next, the calculator converts the adjusted area into roofing squares, where one roofing square equals 100 square feet. Finally, the total number of shingle bundles is calculated based on the average coverage per bundle, typically around 33.3 square feet. This method provides a reliable estimate for material planning, helping users reduce shortages and avoid unnecessary overordering.
